For this assignment, we were asked to create a story using 15 shots and angles to illustrate the mood and idea of the story. Our goal was to use these shots to make the story come to life and make the meaning clear.
For my project, I told the story between a new water bottle and an old water bottle. The story starts by showing the two water bottles in comparison, one scratch-less and shiny, and one scuffed and dented. As this story progresses, the new water bottle is picked by a human, making the old water bottle sad, leading to its end. Each shot demonstrated the emotion of both bottles through this separation.
During this project, I focused on using camera angles and shots to emphasize both water bottles' story. I used close up shots to emphasize the old bottles' emotion as the new bottle gets picked over it, and some over the shoulder shots to show how the two bottles feel in this situation. Reflecting on my project, I feel that I did a good job illustrating the scenario from beginning to end using camera angles and techniques, but I feel that I could have depicted the bottles' feelings and thoughts a little better. Experimenting with different camera angles to add more emotion and interest in this story, and making the switch from shot to shot smoother.
